Thick Hair

Contrary to popular belief thick hair can be just as difficult to style as thinning hair. We know lift/body should never be an issue however what if you desire a sleek style? How do you get those unruly course hairs to behave?
As Professional hairdressers we don’t believe in slicking down hair with masses of heavy, sticky products as this may be a quick fix but the hair will quickly become greasy. Daniel Bradbury Creative Director of Harleys2 says “The trick to dealing with thicker hair is preparation, for example shampooing thick hair with the wrong shampoo will can cause mayhem when attempting to style the hair.” We asked Daniel which Shampoo and conditioner he recommends to his clients “I always use Redken real control at the basin, it leaves the hair clean and silky, but most importantly easy to work with”
Once you have prepped you hair with the right shampoo and conditioner it’s important to use the right styling/finishing products once again Daniel was on hand to give us his expert opinion on what are the best styling and finishing products to use on thick hair “before I start drying hair I always like to work some Moroccan oil through the hair, this acts as both a leave-in conditioner and a smoothing serum, depending on just how unruly the hair is I would now consider using some Sebastian Texturizer on top of the Moroccan oil. Only after all this would I start to dry the hair with a large paddle brush”
“Once dry I like to spray the hair with some Label M Heat protection spray and straighten any parts that still require smoothing. I always finish thick hair off with Label M Shine mist as it seals the hair from humidity “
There you have it a top tip from a top stylist the products that Daniel mentioned are listed below as are many more products that are great on Thicker hair.
